Copia Launches Women’s Shoe Line

Alias Distribution (Osiris shoes, Elenex Clothing, and Arcade Skateboards) adds some sisters to the mix with the addition of Copia Footwear and Apparel.

The Copia Spring 2002 Footwear and Apparel line will launch September 6th at ASR in San Diego. The line is a fresh approach to active urban inspired apparel & footwear while preserving the essence of femininity. Comfort, versatility, and fit align with design, function, and style for a fresh new approach to the women’s marketplace.

The Copia spring 2002 line markets to the young, hip, fashion forward girl looking for an alternative to flowered board shorts, and bulky sneakers.

“We felt there was an undeveloped niche in the women’s footwear and apparel market,” explains Tony Chen Vice President (Alias Distribution) “we knew some talented people whose involvement could help make this new project successful. Those connections along with current market circumstances made us eager to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Copia’s footwear division will consist of 6 styles including a slip-on, low profile casual sneakers, running shoes, and a sandal. The apparel line contains a mix of casual basics that are perfect for day or night. Spring apparel will touch on all categories including skirts, pants, shorts, tops, and basic cotton tees & sweatshirts.

“When Michi (Copia Apparel Designer) and I came up with the idea of Copia, our main goal was to give the girls something they can relate to and feel comfortable wearing during a time when self-image is so important,” says Creative Director Stacy Dye, “we want Copia to reflect her and her lifestyle, not merely a trend.”

Copia hit’s the streets with the following support: Stacy Dye ¿ Creative Director (formerly of Alphanumeric), Michi Muertigue ¿ Apparel Designer (formerly of Alphanumeric), Erika Petryszyn ¿ Graphic Artist (published fashion illustrator), Jenny Earnshaw ¿ Asst.
