NW Swell For Clash Of The Legends

NW Swell Building As Reef Hawaiian Pro "Clash Of The Legends" Approaches

Reef is reuniting former ASP World Champions, Mark "Occy" Occhilupo, Tom Carroll, Tom Curren and Sunny Garcia for the first ever Reef Hawaiian Pro "Clash of the Legends," presented by Bud Light Lime. This special exhibition event will be held during the Reef Hawaiian Pro waiting period, November 12th – November 23rd at Ali'I Beach on the North Shore of Oahu. The winner of the "Clash of the Legends" will earn a share of over $20,000 in cash prizes.

The "Clash of the Legends" portion of the Reef Hawaiian Pro will be held during three of the five days of the regular men's contest period. There will be three four-man heats run through an old school contest format of the best of three sets. The first annual "Clash of the Legends" Champion will be decided on the last set on the finals day of the men's competition. This special event will be dedicated to three-time ASP World Champion and former Van's Triple Crown Champion Andy Irons.

The anticipation for the "Clash of the Legends" isn't the only thing building on the North Shore as a solid NW swell with plenty of well overhead surf is predicted for the early part of next week. More NW groundswell is lining up for the remainder of the waiting period providing the ultimate arena for the 'Clash Legends' to compete in.

The criteria for selecting the competitors for the "Clash of the Legends" is that they must be former ASP World Champions, or runners-up in previous years. Reef also looked at the competitor's careers, accolades and overall influence on the sport of surfing in the last two decades.

Global Team Manager, Heath Walker, adds, "Based on the phenomenal careers of the four Clash competitors Reef selected, Occy, Carroll, Curren and Garcia certainly fit the bill of legendary status. We're deeply honored to have this crew as pioneers of this new Reef tradition."

The Reef Hawaiian Pro and special events like "The Clash of the Legends" and The World Miss Reef Hawaiian Pro will all be broadcast live via www.vanstriplecrownofsurfing.com. Stay tuned daily from November 12th-23rd for event updates.
