April 12, 2010 – VISTA, CA – DC is pleased to welcome pro surfer Clay Marzo to its surf team. Look for Clay to kick off DC's new surf campaign later this month.
“I'm so stoked to be back on the DC team with Ry, Dane, and now Julian," said Clay. "The shoes are sick and they treat me like family."
Twenty-year-old Clay grew up in Maui, Hawaii where his parents, both avid surfers, had him in the water more than they did on land. His talents in the water were noticed at a young age and he became sponsored at the age of nine. In 2005 he won his first big contest, NSSA Open Men's National Champion, which opened doors for him to film with the worlds best surfers. He appeared in The Young Guns 2, 3, and Tomorrow Today and in 2008 his video Just Add Water earned him, "Best Male Performance," at the Surfer Poll Awards. Clay was originally on the DC Surf team from 2004- 2006.
"Clay is a one of a kind athlete who has pushed the limits and helped surfing evolve to what it is today," said Brian Cassaro, DC's Action Sports Marketing Director. "We're excited to have him as part of the DC family again."
Most recently Clay was featured in the April 15th issue of Rolling Stone magazine and ranked # 2 on Surfer magazine's "Hot 100" list of the best young surfers in the world. For more on Clay and the DC Surf team visit, dcshoes.com/surf.
