Volcom Headquarters – Costa Mesa, California: Volcom is proud to officially welcome Australia’s Dean Morrison back as part of the Volcom Family. Dean, a long-time Volcom team rider, changed sponsors three years ago just before his first year on the WCT.
Over the past years, Dean has become a standout in professional surfing, winning the 2003 Quiksilver Pro at his home break Snapper Rocks and finishing the season rated 10th in the world. Dean’s fast and powerful style is perfectly suited for the WCT events, making Dean one of the most feared opponents on the tour.
This year, Dean will be traveling on the WCT with fellow Volcom rider, Bruce Irons. “He left for a while and now he’s back where he belongs, Bruce said. Bruce has re-qualified for the 2005 WCT by securing a spot in the last event of 2004 at Pipe. Both guys are super fired up after this winter in Hawaii and are ready for a great next year on the WCT.
Currently both Bruce and Dean are taking a little break before the start of the season in March. “Dean’s style, raw talent and ability to perform in any conditions will be a great compliment to Bruce and the rest of the team. I’m just stoked to have Dean back on the program,” said Richard Woolcott, Volcom CEO.
The first contest of the year will be held March 1-13 at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast of Australia, Dean’s local spot.
“We’re super psyched to have Dean back on the team. He is one of the best underground surfers on the WCT and once he reaches his full potential, it’s going to be scary, said Troy Eckert, Volcom Marketing Director.
Be on the lookout for both Dean and Bruce this year!
