PSTA Pro creates champions in San Clemente

It was Chris Drummy taking the win in a very close heat at the PSTA Pro in San Clemente, there were three lead changes in this closely matched final under clear skys, no wind and 4-5 foot south swell. Another epic event for the PSTA. The Next event on the PSTA Schedule is the Havaianas Pro which will take place July 18-21, 2002 in Huntington Beach at Goldenwest Street. This will be a big event, positioned between two of the nations largest events the Nationals and the US Open. Great competition everyone. All PSTA events will be televised on the Outdoor Life Network starting on the first Monday evening in July.

PSTA started competition on Sunday, Fathers day with a host of parents on hand to support the PSTA’s newest division for competitors aged 13-15. Athletes and families alike were welcomed with consistant 3-4′ surf with a light marine layer and no wind. Taking the win with (17.40 ) points was Tanner Gudaskas, second place Nico Becerra (13.40), third place Chris Waring (13.15), forth place Ian Eckberg (10.50)The PSTA is proud of all these up and coming competitors and looking forward to watching this level of competition continue to grow.

In PSTA women’s competition Julia Christian continues to make huge strides at the professional level, easily taking the win as the ladies were welcomed to beautiful clear skies, warm temperatures and water (70 degrees) and the southwest swell as predicted pouring throughout their competition. Standouts in early Qualifying round competition included, Erica Hosseini (12.75), Allison Bailey (14.50), Karina Petroni (14.85),Siri Cota (11.95) and Kim Mayer (11.25). PSTA sponsors include the New Subaru Baja, Paul Mitchell Salon Haircare, and the Outdoor Life Network.
