Dustin Barca Leads Anti GMO North Shore March
In an effort to raise awareness around the genetically modified organisms (GMO) issues facing the Hawaiian Islands—and more specifically the small Oahu town of Haleiwa—Kauai born pro surfer Dustin Barca recently led a march through the streets of Haleiwa despite driving rain and flooding. Barca’s efforts have been successful in Kauai where a bill was recently passed that forces companies like Monsanto to divulge what they are spraying on crops, and his new focus is the North Shore of Oahu. Joining Barca in the “Aloha Aina March” were pro surfers Kelly Slater, John John Florence, Jamie O’Brien, Shane Dorian, Makua Rothman, Kala Alexander and over 700 more supporters despite flash flooding and severe weather warnings. Good on ya Barca, evict Monsanto!
