He was first thrust into the international spotlight when 6X World Champion Kelly Slater, hand picked him at the age of fourteen to surf on the Quiksilver team for the OP T3 Challenge. Graves just capped off his stellar amateur career by beating out America’s best amateurs, to take the hotly contested Explorer Junior division title at the 2004 NSSA Nationals at Lower Trestles this past June. Graves currently graces the cover of the June/July issue of Mundo Rad magazine, which also features a ten page profile on the young Graves. After his big National victory, Graves boarded a plane and headed for South Africa where he will be taking his smooth explosive style onto the WQS Tour, aiming for a future qualifying position on the coveted WCT.
“I am very, very stoked to be working with Dylan, he is a great young talent! said DVS Surf Brand Manager Brandy Faber. “Besides how good of a surfer he is, Dylan is one of the nicest kids I’ve ever met. We couldn’t be happier that he decided to join the DVS family, Faber added.
