Amidst the evolution that continually occurs in the water there is a progression that has occurred on land that has forever changed the way we will document surfing.
If you haven’t heard or seen anything about the new RED ONE camera, you’re dropping the ball. These new super HD video cameras are overthrowing the entire video industry, including that of surf film makers. I’m not going to get into all the nerdy details of these cameras (if you want to do that for yourself check out the RED ONE camera site here), but they basically have the highest color accuracy of any technology to date. The end result is the clearest video image you’ve ever seen. It’s no wonder Taylor Steele has called “film dead” because of these, and he has shot the much anticipated Rob Machado film, The Drifter, on a RED as well. Should be interesting to see Machado’s eloquence on a surfboard in spectacular quality.
Most of us have probably seen Jamie O’Brien’s footage from this winter in Hawaii on a RED camera, but the quality is so damn good we’ve got to show it to you ourselves. Check out Vincet Laforet’s video below, and the rest of his Jamie O project here.

Another camera that’s turning heads is a super slow mo HD camera. Below is a video of Dylan Longbottom in Oz scoring a macker in high-quality slow motion. Though the narrarting is pretty cheesy (that’s the BBC for ya), the video itself is pristine.
And just for good measure, we decided to give you the Megan Fox Esquire photo shoot that used a RED ONE. Goes to show you that even photo cameras might go the way of the dodo bird if the RED ONE has anything to say about it, since the screenshots of these videos are almost better quality than a still camera itself.
LET US KNOW BELOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THE NEWEST VIDEO TECHNOLOGIES AND HOW THEY’LL CHANGE THE WAY WE DOCUMENT SURFING. HOW HOT IS MEGAN FOX?
