Forecast Provided by Surfline.com — the Official Surf Forecaster of the Surfing America
USA Championships Presented by SIMA
A strong storm in the southern hemisphere has generated massive 35-foot swells off Antarctica, which are on their way to Southern California. The resulting south swell will be the first significant south swell of the year and is timed perfectly to coincide with the beginning of the Surfing America USA Championships at Huntington Beach Pier, June 27th through July 2nd.
On Monday, June 27th, the south swell will build throughout the day to produce 4-6 foot surf with larger sets over 8 feet by late Monday and Tuesday, June 28th. The swell will hold throughout the middle of next week and then slowly drop toward the weekend. Surfline.com also forecasts a small local northwest swell to help to break up the south swell lines to create very contestable conditions all the way throughout the entire event.
WHEN: Contest runs June 27-July 1, 2005, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. and July 2, 7:30 — 11:30 a.m. at Huntington Beach Pier, Calif.
