Opper Sports set to release its newest film
October 10, 2005-(Solana Beach, CA)- Surfers of all kinds will get an exciting look at the current state of surfing on October 10th as Opper Sports Productions releases its latest full-length surf film, Fin, on DVD. This most recent offering from award-winning producer Ira Opper will be available online at surfhistory.com and at finer surf shops worldwide.
Shot over the past year in California, Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia and Canada, Fin takes an in-depth look at the end of one surfing sensibility and the beginning of another; one in which what you ride means nothing, how you ride it means everything. This enthralling, visually exquisite documentary leaves preconceptions at the door and focuses on surfing at its purest level.
“Fin reflects what is currently vogue in surfing, said Opper, President of Opper Sports Productions. “The sport has evolved into a great new era. It’s not about one mindset, it’s simply about riding the right board for the right conditions.”
Opper is a tireless producer of surf videos, documentaries, and television shows from Solana Beach, California. His previous works include the influential Surfer’s Journal series on OLN, Long Board TV series on FUEL TV, and cable television’s first surf series, Solo Sports (1975), and over two dozen full-length films, including, but not limited to, Super Slide (1999), Wordz (2002) and Hang (2004).
Fin, directed by Todd Saunders and written by Surfer Magazine’s Brad Melekian, was shot in anamorphic 16×9 widescreen with digital sound. The Fin DVD includes five bonus features. Total run time 77:00. Retail $29.95.
