Like most of us, you probably aren’t going to call in sick and make the trip down under for this year’s Rip Curl Pro, so FUEL.TV is bringing it to your computer screen. Starting this weekend FUEL.TV will Web cast the event live from Bells Beach. A new swell is building and waves should be epic for the rest of the 2009 Rip Curl Pro. Check back at 8EST/5pm PST on Tuesday April 14 for a probable start of the Men’s Round 3.
From the same waters where Rip Curl was born, where some of the most legendary performances in the history of our sport have gone down, boasting 36 years as the longest running event in ASP history – the 2009 Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach is locked and loaded to pit the best surfers in the world together at surfing’s greatest natural amphitheater, April 7-18.
Whether it was Simon Anderson changing the sport in the ’81 Rip Curl Pro or Curren and Occy exhibiting one of the greatest rivalries in ’86, the Rip Curl Pro at Bells has transcended an event into a legacy, and this year is shaping up to be no different.
“There’s a real energy about Bells that always excites me,” said ’07 World Champ and Rip Curl team rider Mick Fanning. “The Rip Curl Pro is where I got my first World Tour win so it's special to me.”
Don’t miss the TV-Bustin' Quality Rip Curl Pro Live today on FUEL.TV at 5pm PST. Slater’s been knocked out but the games still on. Watch the last 16 in round 3 as the surf picks up.
