Get Ready For Local Motion’s Surf Into Summer

Ala Moana Bowl, Honolulu

The 15th annual Local Motion Surf Into Summer is slated to burn up at the (Ala Moana) Bowl on Memorial Day weekend, May 26, 27, 28. Featuring eleven categories for shortboarding, longboarding, bodyboarding and including ages from 12 and under to 45 and up, over 300 entrants will compete in this event which is considered a traditional end to the school year and a signal to the start of another summer.

The venue off Magic Island’s harbor side tip is in known to hold just about any southerly angled swell and is considered the most consistent and high performance wave on the south shore. Besides the regular surfing, the Surfing Magazine Air Show will be in town and feature the finest airborne wave riding specialists with $5000.00 in cash and is a qualifier for the Vans SMAS Final to be held later this year.

Music daily from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. will consist of Saturday’s Star 101FM alternative music, Hip Hop Sunday with I-94 and Island Rhythm 98.5FM Monday with Island Music. Hawaii’s best skaters will also be on hand at the LMID skate demo area daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Also on Sunday at the Pipeline Cafe from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Billabong will be premiering their latest flick “Pickled, the Movie” along with surf/rock star Donavan Frankenreiter and his band Sunchild. [IMAGE 1]For more on the event, lineup and contest information, go to www.Localmotionhawaii.com
