Globe Shoes today (January 10) announced the hiring of Kevin Flanagan as Vice President of Marketing.
Prior to joining the Globe team, Flanagan was the vice president of marketing at Broadband Interactive group (BIG). While at BIG, he was instrumental in the creation and launch Bluetorch, including Bluetorch.com, and Bluetorch TV on Fox Sports Net. Flanagan also coordinated the publication of five action-sports magazines and many international events, such as the Bluetorch Pro in Huntington Beach. Prior to BIG, Flanagan spent two years at Oakley Europe as director of European marketing, before returning to the U.S. to become the director of international marketing.
“Kevin has great experience marketing established brands and building brands from the ground up, which will be invaluable to our many divisions as we continue to grow”, says Globe President Gary Valentine. “He has a keen sense of our market, and we look forward to the infusion of this valuable insight and leadership across the board.”
Flanagan will manage Globe’s international marketing drive. He will develop directional strategies for all mediums with a continued emphasis on the consistent representation of all brands. Flanagan will implement a global marketing strategy to drive the continued international growth. He will first represent Globe at the upcoming Surf Expo, January 11-14, in Orlando, Florida.
“I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to join the Globe team and further build the Globe trademark with continued focus on pioneering our newer brands,” says Flanagan.
Conceived by Hardcore Enterprises, Australia’s largest supplier of skate, snowboard and action-sports footwear/clothing products, the Globe shoes concept originated in the early 90s from the desire to develop an authentic skate footwear alternative for the action-sports market. In 1995, Globe’s rapid expansion prompted the opening of Globe Shoes LLC in Torrance, California to serve the booming U.S. market. Designed and developed by active skaters and surfers, Globe aims to offer quality products that integrate style, performance, durability, and comfort. Globe is also responsible for the launch of Gallaz, the first action-sports footwear brand specifically for females. Globe, Trans Element, and Gallaz shoes are now distributed throughout the world.
