Thousands of people packed into the Irvine Spectrum Center on Friday evening to witness creative presentations from five participating high schools: San Clemente (reigning OC champion), Mission Viejo, Capistrano Valley, Huntington Beach and Edison. After equally unique performances, the judges awarded San Clemente High School as the Orange County “Walk The Walk” champions for the second year in a row. Students were surprised with a $10,000 donation to their art and music program, plus a plaque honoring their victory. The other participating schools each received a $5,000 donation to their programs, along with Hurley “Walk the Walk” t-shirts and DVD copies of the show.
The crowd was entertained between shows with special performances by Party Squad, Street Drum Corps, and The Maine. The student’s were treated to two special guest judges: Sports Illustrated and international supermodel Bar Refaeli and Berk McCracken of The Used.
Additionally, Hurley’s Walk The Walk incorporated a design challenge within the event. Schools were tasked with creating head-to-toe Hurley outfits from scratch. When the total points were tallied, Mission Viejo took home the prize for best girl’s look, and San Clemente won for best guy’s design.
