Huntington Beach Pier is a frustrating wave that requires time in the water to fully understand. This was never more evident than at the Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack’s this past weekend, where an H.B. resident took home each division.

The event came to a climax when local boy, Shuan Ward, blew up in the final, which he had been doing all week. Wardo had two scores in the eight point range on his first two waves, leaving his fellow finalist scrambling to find scores. The “Freakin Puerto Rican,” Dylan Graves was able to get a couple of scores, and was the only competitor in legitimite striking distance, but Wards first two shredfull waves were just too much.

“I’ve been trying to win a QS here for like, the last eight years. It feels good to finally do it,” said Ward.

Huntington wahine, Courtney Conlogue, took the Women’s Pro, and Brazilian transplant (he lives in Huntington), Bruno Rodrigues took the Eziekual Pro Junior.
