Major Golf Event To Be Held November 20 To Benefit Surf-Aid International

Surf-Aid International Golf Benefit On Thursday, November 20th, we are presenting a major fundraising golf event to benefit Surf-Aid International. The Mentawai Islands in Sumatra is one of the most beautiful and isolated places on the planet. It has some of the best waves for surfing. And tragically, the Mentawais also have one of the worlds highest infant mortality rates. Many of you are aware that the culture and the very lives of the Mentawai people are on the brink. Disease and poverty are destroying the people of this tropical paradise, only yards away from the luxury yachts that bring surfers and eco-tourists on the trip of a lifetime. While visitors to the tropical paradise are not to blame for the conditions in the Mentawais, together we can all make a huge difference and save these peoples lives and their culture.Surf-Aid Internationals program of treatment, prevention and education has already made a dramatic impact during its pilot phase. With funding, this program can reduce malaria, the main culprit in the high mortality rate, by up to 75%! Right now a five year Malaria control project is ready to launch in 21 more villages that will reduce Malaria by well over 50%. The golf event costs $1,000 per foursome. There will be a Longest Drive Contest, several Closest-To-The-Pin Contests and two Hole-In-One Contests. Lunch and dinner are included and there will be a silent & live auction at the awards dinner after the tournament. We would appreciate you giving us editorial coverage for this important event and we will gladly provide a feature story with pictures if you will print it or put it on your website. Attached is an information sheet on the tournament and a sign-up sheet, which we would appreciate you making it available to your readers. We also urge you put together a team and to come participate in this important fundraising event. You’ll have an opportunity to actually save and enrich lives, meet Dr. Dave Jenkins (the founder and Chairman of Surf-Aid International), and have a fun day with other people that truly care about making a difference. The event itself should make for excellent copy! For more information on what SAI is doing, please go to For more information on the fundraising event, go to
