Twenty-four year old Kling is a smooth and powerful surfer from St. Augustine, Florida. In his first full WQS campaign Kling had his best year ever, moving up 24 spots to 88th in the 2004 year-end rankings. Highlights from the year include two second-place finishes, which took place last summer on the east coast, at the 3-Star Dan Heritage/Rip Curl Pro in New Jersey and the 2-Star WRV Outer Banks Pro in North Carolina. “I’m really focusing on qualifying and I’m stoked that Matix is backing me 100% in doing this, Kling said. “I’m off to Puerto Rico to work on my boards and shoot my first ad, Kling added. Kling will be focusing on the 2005 WQS Tour with his eye on making the 2006 WCT. Kling joins Anthony Petruso, Chris Ropero and Brad Burdick as the young nucleus of the Matix surf program.
