GABE KLING #1 ON WQS RATINGS!

Gabe Kling is off to his best start ever on the WQS tour and is currently #1 on the WQS ratings heading into this weeks 4 star Energy Australia Pro in Newcastle. Two weeks ago the 6 star prime Solomon Masters at Margaret River, Western Australia, Kling made the man-on-man semi finals, finishing =3rd. Along the way Kling won five of his seven heats and took out current WCT’ers Taj Burrow, Toby Martin and Kirk Flintoff to get his best result to date. “I’m really stoked to have beat Taj and those guys and to have done so well, Kling said afterwards. The 2,008 points he received were enough to move Kling to the top of the ratings list and will go along way in his quest to qualify for the 2006 WCT.Go to MatixClothing.com

The Surf Industry Manufacturers association (SIMA) announced the nominees for their annual Image Awards. The Gusto boardshort was designed for Matix team rider, Gusto Gav who tested them at the world’s harshest big wave spots around the world. “There’s nothing like some cold gold after getting whipped into a hairy one! Gusto said. Gusto Gav and his namesake boardshort have been the cornerstone of Matix’s 2006 surf marketing efforts. The winner in each category will be selected by specialty surf retailers and manufacturers through a confidential voting process conducted via mail-in ballot. The nominees and winners in each category will be honored at the SIMA Image Awards ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2005, during Surf Summit 8 in Cabo San Lucas.
