May 22, 2008: – – Pro-Lite International, Inc. is extremely stoked to announce the signing of seventeen year-old Virginia Beach surfer Michael Dunphy to its stacked and growing surf team. Dunphy has been rising quickly through the amateur rankings over the last couple years and he now finds himself at the top of the NSSA Southeast/ North Open and Explorer Mens ratings.
He will head to the NSSA Nationals in June with a great seed and ready to show that he can take it to amateurs from the rest of the nation as well the East Coast.
Before that, however, Dunphy will be on a plane to Southwest France to fight alongside his fellow countrymen for the ISA World Junior title. There he will find himself among 250 of the best junior surfers from every top surfing nation in the world.
Dunphy had to battle several rounds of stiff competition just to make the USA Surf Team, then even more heats to make the cut to be able to represent the USA in France. You can follow Michael and the rest of Team USA May 24 to June 1.
Not just a contest machine, Dunphy has many interests. They include rocking Bone Thugs in his Geo Metro, fashioning his head snaps after Neco Padaratz, and practicing key French phrases for the bronzed beach lassies in Hossegor. No doubt all of these skills will come together to help Michael give his best shot at the ISA title.
With many frequent flier miles already docked and many more to come, it makes sense that Michael Dunphy has chosen Pro-Lite to protect his gear and supply him with all of his surf accessories. Says Pro-Lite’s Micah Bundy, “We are excited to add such a talented and well rounded surfer to the Pro-Lite team and we look forward to seeing him continue to dominate the junior contest circuits up and down the East Coast.”
