After posting back-to-back 5th place finishes at both the recent Hurley and Quiksilver WCT events on a stock Firewire, and testing his Firewire Hawaiian quiver this winter, Tahitian WCT surfer Michel Bourez has officially joined the Firewire team.
Michel's introduction to Firewire's innovative technology happened in an unusual manner. Earlier this year, while on an Indo boat trip during which his polyurethane boards did not arrive in time, Michel surfed a couple of stock Firewire's that happened to be on the boat and never looked back.
"I think it speaks volumes about the performance characteristics of our boards that a WCT-caliber surfer can surf at that level and win using our standard technology in a stock board", commented Chuy Reyna, Firewire's Marketing Director, "designs and technology that are readily available to every surfer across a wide variety of shapes".
"Firewire believes that refinements to the shape of today’s modern surfboard can only produce incremental performance benefits. Exponential improvements in performance can only be achieved through new materials and construction methods which in turn will open up new design opportunities.”
