According to his blog on www.worldprosurfers.com, 2007 ASP World Champion Mick Fanning pulled out of the recent Billabong Pro Mundaka due to a tear in his hip joint that had been bothering him since the Jeffrey’s Bay event back in July. According to Fanning, he was going to try to compete through the pain, but decided that it had become too much and headed home for treatment which is when doctors told him that there was a tear.
Fanning went on to say that he wanted to compete in the ISA World Games currently going down in Portugal but had to pass that opportunity as well. While he didn’t say anything about going to the Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro—the next stop on the Dream Tour—we’re assuming Fanning will join the rest of the top dogs of the WCT and not attend the event. Get ready for a nearly all-Brazilian field…
