This past weekend Alpinestars provided team rider Nathaniel Curran VIP infield access to the Red Bull US Grand Prix at the Laguna Seca Moto Race in Monterey, California, as well as a ride on a customized 990 CC million dollar Ducati 2-seater with AMA Hall Of Famer Randy Mamola.

Randy is considered the greatest Moto athlete to never win a World Championship. He’s a 4-Time World Series runner up with a decorated 30 year racing career. He’s the Cheyne Horan of MotoGP. One of the all time greats.

We caught up with Nathaniel to get the inside scoop on the experience…

Going into it I didn’t know what to expect. I was scared, really freaked out. It’s super intimidating, just watching these guys going 150 – 160 mph around turns. It was hard to mentally prepare when I had no idea what I was getting into – no clue how it would feel. I was just focused on holding on.

It was the craziest 45 seconds of my entire life. The G-Force is so intense I literally couldn’t look up, I was just staring at the pavement. I stepped off the bike and was shaking with adrenaline.

An hour later, I was a little bummed on my performance. It was like I’d surfed a bad heat. I wanted more. I could tell I wasn’t quite on the bike right during a few of the turns. If I ever get another chance, I’ll do way better.

And Randy Mamola…

I wanted to give Nathaniel a proper ride. I wanted him to feel the brakes, the G-Force, really experience the rush these guys get braking and leaning into turns upwards of 200 mph. We could do this slow and afterward it’d be like ahh whatever, that was fun. But that’s not what this was about.
