    6 November, 2009 : - - Lobitos, Piura/Peru – Event organizers at the Movistar Peru Classic presented by Rip Curl, Event No. 5 of 7 of 2009 ASP Women’s World Tour, have opted to call competition off for today, with onshore winds and low tides preventing a recommencement. “We sat it out for six hours hoping the tide would assist conditions,” Richie Porta, ASP Women’s World Tour Head Judge, said. “Unfortunately, the swell has not fully eventuated.     6 November, 2009 : - - Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc. has laid off 125 workers at its headquarters and elsewhere in Southern California as part of its ongoing cost cutting. In all, 200 jobs were cut including 75 vacant positions at Quiksilver. The cuts came at Quiksilver’s America unit, including at its Roxy brand and DC Shoes. Cuts also came at the company’s Mira Loma warehouse. More >
