SAN CLEMENTE, CA— June 6, 2008 — Ocean Minded teamed up with the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) and the Dig 4 Kids Educational Foundation on June 4th to clean up Hermosa Beach. The event took place two days before the latest AVP Crocs Tour stop begins on Friday, June 6th.
For two hours, more than 30 people combed Hermosa Beach and collected all of the trash they could find. After gathering over 50 pounds of trash on the beach, the group walked up and down Pier Avenue, picking up all of the litter in front of the local bars, restaurants, and retail stores.
"Beach clean ups are the cornerstone of the Ocean Minded brand, it always feels great to make a positive impact on the environment and local community," said Bob Tanner, Marketing Director for Ocean Minded. "Partnering with the Dig 4 Kids Educational Foundation provided us a wonderful opportunity to spread our 'Be Ocean Minded' and 'No One Likes A Dirty Beach' brand messages to a great group of teens".
Dig 4 Kids is an after school educational and athletic program founded by Professional Beach Volleyball Player and Olympic Gold Medalist, Eric Fonoimoana. Over 17 high school students, from the Los Angeles area, came to participate in the beach clean up and learned what it means to be 'ocean minded'.
