OCEANSIDE – Top surfers from the West Coast will meet the best surfers from across the nation during the $15,000 Dos Equis Oceanside Pro presented by Paul Mitchell Salon Haircare on Friday, August 8 through Sunday, August 10. The Dos Equis Oceanside Pro is the final stop on the 2003 Professional Surfing Tour of America (PSTA).
The action will take place on the north side of the Oceanside Pier. The Oceanside event will award the summer series champions, with the overall champion in the men's shortboarding and men's longboarding winning a trip for two to the Hotel Kaveka in Tahiti along with a $1000 bonus for their top performances.
The format features heats of four surfers competing against each other, with the best two advancing. The event features men's shortboarding, women's shortboarding, men's longboard, and the Bic One Design Challenge. The PSTA gives up-and-coming amateurs and professionals the opportunity to further their careers in a highly competitive arena while vying for cash and prizes.
Surfing trials begin at 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday August 8. The event continues through Sunday with the finals scheduled for 11 a.m. All action will be televised by the Outdoor Life Network.
