Thursday April 3rd 2008 (Burleigh Heads, QLD): Professional surfer JoelParkinson will be on the coast next week to host the Inaugural Parko’sGrom Stomp surfing event at Caloundra.
The event will attract over 200 young surfers under the age of 16, vyingfor prestigious titles in the 16/U, 14/U and 12/U divisions.
“We have been absolutely swamped with entries for this event,” saidSurfing Queensland Event Manager Scott Gilles. “The Sunshine Coast isalways a really strong supporter of junior surfing events and this is thefirst one we have held in Caloundra for quite a while.
“Joel and Billabong have gone all out to make this event successful and Ithink the kids will really benefit from having a surfer of his caliberaround to give them some tips.”
Sunshine Coast locals will have a rare chance to meet the 26-year-oldworld number four at the Beach Beat Surf Shop, on Bulcock Street inCaloundra on Thursday 10th April. Parkinson will meet shoppers and signautographs at the store from 2pm-3pm.
