Pipe Masters Plagued By Stormy Conditions

Strong gusty winds,torrential rain and generally stormy conditions have stretched the wait forthe start of the Xbox Gerry Lopez Pipeline Masters – the third and finalevent of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing in Hawaii. But by all accounts,patience looks as if it will be rewarded with waves this weekend.


The 2001 Xbox Pipeline Masters will beshowcased on network television later this month, airing on NBC sports onSunday, December 23, 2001, at 3:00 p.m. EST, not on Saturday, as previouslycirculated. The show will feature all the action and drama of this year’sevent as well as historical highlights from the past 30 years of thePipeline Masters.

The third and final jewel of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, the officialholding period for the Xbox Pipeline Masters is from December 8 to 17.
