Point Break To Screen At Bird's Surf Shed
San Diego Surf Film Festival Screens Popular Film Classic Point Break, Thursday Oct. 10
Actors and Surfers John Philbin and Bojesse "Grommet" Christopher to be Honored Guests

What: The San Diego Surf Film Festival presents the screening of the popular surf film classic Point Break on Thursday, Oct. 10 at Bird's Surf Shed, a world famous restored quonset hut filled with an impressive collection of historically significant surfboards and artifacts. Filmgoers will also receive free food from Daphne’s California Greek, and for those 21 and over, free samples from Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company. The event will also include a raffle. The winner will receive a two-hour surf lesson/session with John Philbin from Point Break while riding the board of their choice from Bird’s Surf Shed. The exclusive surf session will also be filmed by misfit pictures and will include a free lunch. The winner will be announced at the end of the evening.
Who: John Philbin, who plays Nathanial/LBJ in the film (and Turtle in the film NORTH SHORE), and Bojesse Christopher (who plays Grommet in the film) will be in attendance to answer questions, take photos and sign autographs. Also in attendance will be SDSFF creators Pierce & Petra Kavanagh, Bird Huffman, (owner of the famous Bird's Surf Shed) , as well as local community members and surfers.
Point Break synopsis: FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) is assigned to investigate a series of bank robberies in Southern California by four men who wear rubber masks and call themselves “The Ex Presidents." Agent Utah appoints Agent Pappas (Gary Busey) as his partner, who believes the perpetrators to be surfers. The suspected group of individuals are led by a man they call Bodhi (Patrick Swayze), whom is radically devoted to the surfer culture.
