PSTA Lines Up Top Field for Finals

Competitors arrived to an increasing swell during this second day of PSTA competition at the San Clemente Pier; shortboarders were faced with a low tide condition, yet signs of the increasing southwest swell were apparent throughout the round. Stand outs in 4th round competition included veteran competitor Dino Andino taking the days highest shortboarding score with a 14.00; the second highest score taken by another San Clemente local was standout Jason Senn, owner and operator of Endless Summer surf camps which makes its home here throughout the year; a newcomer to the PSTA, Florida?s Eric Taylor upset a number of seasoned pro?s to post the third highest score and advance into Sunday?s quarter final round (12.70). Rounding out the top four is Chris Drummy, adding points on to his run for the PSTA Championships. Other standouts include Ryan Simmon?s; he will come into Sunday?s competition wearing the coveted Paul Mitchell black leaders Jersey. Quarterfinal action is scheduled to start on Sunday, June 16th at 10:00 am following the PSTA Junior and Women?s quarterfinals.
