HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 18, 2000– Quiksilver Inc. announced the recent opening of its new Boardriders Club retail store in Miami’s South Beach.
The store boasts 3,700 square feet of retail space, and is located at 750 Collins Ave. Based on Feb. 13 opening day sales, the store is projected to be a top volume door. “Our Miami location is the third company-owned store we have opened on the East Coast and builds on a new retail presence for Quiksilver,” said Gregg Solomon, vice-president of Quiksilver retail.
The grand opening party is scheduled for March 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will be attended by top Quiksilver-sponsored surfer Lisa Andersen.
Currently, there are 87 Quiksilver Boardriders Clubs in the United States, Western Europe and Mexico. The opening of the SoHo, N.Y. store in August of 1998 marked an important milestone for Quiksilver because it was the first store designed, opened, and operated exclusively by the company’s domestic retail division.
Since then, Quiksilver’s domestic division has opened three independently owned stores and a company-owned store in Boston, and, in addition to the Miami location, is planning on opening stores in Hollywood, Charleston, Costa Mesa, and Seattle in the 2000 calendar year.
Quiksilver designs, produces and distributes clothing, accessories and related products for active-minded people, and develops brands that represent a casual lifestyle — driven from a boardriding heritage. Quiksilver’s authenticity is evident in its innovative products, events and retail environments across the globe.
Quiksilver’s primary focus is apparel for young men and young women under the Quiksilver, Quiksilver Roxy, Raisins and Radio Fiji labels. Quiksilver also manufactures apparel for boys (Quiksilver Boys), girls (Teenie Wahine and Raisins Girls), men (QS Silver Edition) and women (Leilani), as well as snowboards, snowboard boots and bindings under the Lib Technologies, Gnu and Bent Metal labels.
Distribution is primarily in the United States and Europe, and is based in surf shops and specialty stores that endeavor to provide an outstanding retail experience for their customers.
