RSN’s “Extreme Scene will feature The 2005 Mavericks Surf Contest"¢ beginning August 7th
Half Moon Bay, CA and Portland, ME — Mavericks Surf Ventures, LLC and Resort Sports Network announced today that RSN will telecast the 2005 edition of the world-famous Mavericks Surf Contest"¢ during its “Extreme Scene program beginning August 7, 2005, followed by airings on these dates:
A world-renowned big-wave spot located one-half mile off the coast of Half Moon Bay, California first surfed by big-wave legend Jeff Clark, Mavericks has played host to four historic big-wave surfing contests, and was recently crowned by Sports Illustrated as “the Super Bowl of big-wave surfing” and by CNN as “the most dangerous waves in the world. The 2005 Mavericks Surf Contest"¢ took place on March 2 with more than 30,000 fans who witnessed the 40+ foot surf—one ride was later judged the planet’s biggest paddle-in wave of the year at 48 feet. Sponsors of The 2005 Contest included Coca-Cola, Verizon Wireless, Jeep, Balance Vector, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, Cabo Wabo Tequila, Clif Bar, Reactor Watches, Surfer Magazine, and Plantronics.
