Newport Beach, CA (June 28, 2004) The Surfrider Foundation and Sony Pictures Classics have teamed up to premier the newest movie from acclaimed director Stacy Peralta, “Riding Giants”. This highly anticipated follow-up to Peralta’s 2001 hit “Dogtown and Z-Boys”, follows the sport of surfing: from its Polynesian roots, to its Golden Era and on through to the sports’s current quest to find and ride the elusive 100 foot wave. Sony Pictures Classics and the Surfrider Foundation are hosting both an East Coast and West Coast premier.
The East Coast premier will take place on Tuesday, June 29th at the Coral Room in New York City, and will feature appearances by surf legends and stars Laird Hamilton, Greg Noll, Jeff Clark and director Stacy Peralta. The West Coast premier will take place on Thursday, June 8th, 2004 at the historic Regency Lido Theater in Newport Beach, California. On hand will be stars Laird Hamilton, Greg Noll, Titus Kinimaka and director Stacy Peralta.
