Roxy did it last year with its co-branded Roxy Toyota Echo, marking the first time a surf company and automobile manufacturer teamed up to create a co-op car. Now Ron Jon Surf Shop and DaimlerChrysler have joined forces and released a special edition Ron Jon PT Cruiser.
Ron Jon’s version of Chrysler’s 1930s-inspired five-door wagon is geared toward surfers and “active lifestylers.” The special-edition package features Ron Jon Surf Shop badging, a chrome-tipped exhaust, fifteen-inch sixteen-spoke polished chrome wheels, ground effects, fog lamps, and a rear spoiler. A sports bag is also included, filled with a driving blanket, license plate frame, bumper sticker, fleece pull-over, key chain, T-shirt, and a Ron Jon Surf Shop discount card in a leather carrying case.
“We are thrilled to partner with Chrysler in this unique effort,” says Heather Lewis, marketing director for Ron Jon Surf Shop. “The Ron Jon PT Cruiser is a one-of-a-kind automobile that will undoubtedly appeal to Ron Jon fans of all ages.”
According to Motor Trend, Chrysler has produced 1,000 Ron Jon PT Cruisers, which will be sold exclusively at Florida Chrysler dealers with a MSRP of 19,995 dollars.
“Ron Jon views the PT Cruiser as a reincarnation of the surfing lifestyle, which molds perfectly with our brand goal of targeting more youthful owners, making this partnership such a natural fit,” Phil Licina, director of DaimlerChrysler Southeast Business Center, told Motor Trend.
Currently, interested customers can check out Ron Jon’s new ride at its flagship store in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
