Seaslug Surf Series Results From Hermosa Pier In L.A.

Seaslug Surf Series
Press Release

The third event of the Seaslug Surf Series was held on October 19, 2002 at Hermosa Pier. Under sunny skies 96 competitors came to battle it out for prizes and cash and the all important VQS points. The surf was a fun 2-3 feet in the morning and everyone was ripping. Unfortunately by finals time the tide had bottomed out and so did the surf.

Once again the largest division of the day was the Groms. They charged the shore pound in order to pillaged the prizes and custom made trophies. After the first heat of the day one Grom was showing he wanted it all. That Grom was The White Mexican and he dominated the day.

In the Juniors division the final was a close fought battle between three surfers Matt Mohagen, Colin Dodgson, and Nick Rozsa. In the end after all scores were in the win went to Nick Rozsa.

The Open division was blessed with a large talent pool and some new faces. John Balk came out of no where and ripped his way to the final along with an on fire Shaun Burrell and Adam Swanson. The surprise winner earned his way into the final through the Repo-charge and dominated the final. The winner was Adam Popp with Shaun Burrell and Adam Swanson finishing in order.
