HONOLULU – Tuesday, June 15, 2010 — Organizers have called the Sponsor Me Hawaii pro-am surfing event at Ala Moana Bowls ON for today. Conditions are excellent and waves are in the head-high range. The first heat will hit the water at 8:30am Hawaii Time. The event will be broadcast LIVE on the internet at surf.transworld.net, the leader in online surfing culture, in conjunction with Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation. In Hawaii, the event will also be live on Oceanic Digital Cable television, channels 250 and 1250.
The complete holding period for the $25,000 two-day event is June 14-26. Competition is open to both amateur and professional surfers who are looking to gain traction in the pro ranks.
As an ASP Hawaii WQS event, The Sponsor Me Hawaii is a critically important event of the local surfers on three levels: International ratings points, the opportunity to win prize money and the chance to claim a spot in the coveted year-end $1,000,000 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing series.

The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP)
ASP was formed in 1982 to protect the interests of professional Surfers. The association organizes the six professional surfing circuits including the World Championship Tour or WCT, which was renamed to the ASP World Tour in 2007.
