Nathan was selected to compete in Hawaii for a slot on the team, but right before the event he fractured his ankle doing a floater at his home break on Kaui. Nathan never got frustrated and continued to work and rehab his ankle. The USA surf team was going to have one more work out before the team goes to France for the World Junior Surfing Championship (May 24-June 1st). Nathan had to come to California and take 1 of the 2 spots that were open. SRH surf manager Justin Poston said, “I felt bad for the kid he had to surf 7 heats back to back and finish top 2 in every heat.” Nathan showed his skills and made every heat. Nathan’s now fired up and ready for France.
