(Durban, South Africa) Feb 25— Premier South African shaper Spider Murphy has solidified his ’07 WCT team with some of the top talent in the country. With the most South African surfers on the ‘CT ever; Spider Murphy Surfboards has most of them on board.
Long-time tour vet Greg Emslie comes off one of his best years ever with renewed focus and drive after getting married and having a baby during the ’06 season. With past performances in J-Bay, Brazil, and Trestles, Emslie continues to be a threat in any condition. Look for the GE01 and GE02 board models in stores soon. Following up on another successful year on tour, Durbanite Travis Logie is on board this year as well. Known as a giant killer for taking out the big names; Logie will continue with his smooth, stylish surfing on the new TL model. Look for big results on the Gold Coast and in Chile. Rounding out the men’s ‘CT is progressive wizard Royden Bryson. Known to push the envelope on modern day surfing, Bryson will defiantly shatter some dreams this year. Coming from Cape Town’s frigid and wave rich area, Royden will be one to watch at every tour stop.
Last but certainly not least is women’s ‘CT rookie Rosie Hodge. Qualifying in just her first year on the WQS. ’06 started off well for Hodge who had a good finish at the Sebastian Inlet Pro and then continued her momentum through the whole year. She will be one to keep an eye out for. With her smooth and progressive surfing, she and the other ladies on tour will defiantly be turning some heads this year.
International boards sales manager Paul Canning (a former “CT surfer) comments; “The boards coming out of Spider Murphy’s bay are without a doubt some of the best designs in the world. I just got back from Surf Expo with our US distributors and the boards that are coming out of production right now are top notch. Good things are on tap for ’07!
