Surf Benefit For Danny Margagliano

Throw Down For Danny Round 2

Danny Margagliano was born and raised in Upper Township and known in the area as one of New Jersey's greatest surfers. Although Danny and his family moved to Florida in years past he's still an icon in the NJ surfing arena. Sadly enough Danny recently sustained a very devastating spinal cord injury from a diving accident which paralyzed him. His wife April, son Ethan, and daughter Summer have been affected greatly by this tragic accident and are currently struggling. With help from friends and family they've been keeping their spirits up.

Danny needs to go back to a place called Project Walk in Atlanta. Their main focus is to get people out of their wheelchair and walking. They do very aggressive physical training and help you stand with weight-bearing exercises. The cost is $100 per hour 4 hours a day 5 days a week and is so important to have done as soon as possible because the first year after the accident you have the best chance of regaining the most amount of moving and movement throughout the body. They plan on making 4 two week trips back to Atlanta in the next six months. They may also return back to Shepherd Center for some more rehabilitation on the outpatient which cost $100 an hour as well. On top of the cost of the rehab in Atlanta there are very large travel expenses, food expenses, lodging expenses and Danny and April are not able to work at the time while they are in Atlanta doing Rehab. Insurance does not cover any of the costs involved with this so it all comes directly out of pocket and will cost over $25,000 and that is the reason we are doing this again.

The "Throw Down for Danny Round 2" hosted by the Bricker family will be held on Sunday October 14th at the Ocean City Yacht Club from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. This fun-filled event is to show support for Danny and his family; all proceeds will help them with continued medical expenses.

Admission to the benefit is $25.00 which includes food, incredible items for a Chinese Auction and donation tickets & live entertainment. Courtesy of a local vendors generous donations refreshments will also be available.

It's time for all of us to come together again and support this great event to show Danny and his family that we still really care and want to continue to help!
