Surfrider Foundation Is Thirsty For Your Photos
Get Ready For International Surfing Day With “Thirsty Thursdays” Instagram Contest & A Chance To Win A Firewire Surfboard
San Clemente, CA (May 23, 2013) – In anticipation of International Surfing Day on Thursday, June 20th, the Surfrider Foundation is hosting a month-long “Thirsty Thursday” Instagram contest to get supporters pumped for the annual celebration. For the next four Thursdays, Surfrider Foundation is thirsty for ocean, wave, beach, surf and environmental shots for a chance to win a Firewire surfboard.
Here is the rundown: “Thirsty Thursday” is an Instagram photo challenge. The contest will kick off on May 30th, and the last chance to enter will be on ISD, June 20th. Each Wednesday, Surfrider Foundation will announce on its Facebook page and on IntlSurfingDay.com the types of images they are thirsty for that week.
Then on Thursday, all supporters have to do is snap a picture capturing that theme, post it on Instagram, and tag it with @Surfrider and #ISD. To be considered for one of the weekly prizes or the grand prize, photos need to be submitted between 6AM and 3PM PST. Each Friday, the top three challenge winners will receive an awesome prize pack, courtesy of Surfrider.
Following the final “Thirsty Thursday” of the series on June 20th, one grand prize winner will be selected from the 12 weekly winners and will receive a Firewire surfboard.
“When thinking of International Surfing Day activations that would encompass the international community, we decided to go mobile,” said Laura Lee, Surfrider Foundation Director of Marketing & Communication. “By hosting an Instagram contest, we’ll be able to get a glimpse into the lives of supporters worldwide and see how they are getting pumped for ISD.”
