Team Hawai’i Wins 2005 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships

After over a week of battling it out with over thirty two countries, Team Hawai’i took home the gold medal Sunday in Huntington Beach, CA. With 7,178 points, Hawai’i beat second place Brazil by over 400 points. In third place was the USA team led by Tanner Gudauskas. Fourth place was Australia and South Africa took fifth.

Hawai’i was led by Tonino Benson, who won the boys under 16 division with teammate Clay Marzo coming second. Carissa Moore and Lani Hunter both made the finals in the girls under 18 division, earning huge points for their gold medal winning team.

Girls Under 18: Stephanie Gilmore (Australia)

Boys Under 18: Jefferson Silva (Brazil)

Boys Under 16: Tonino Benson (Hawai’i)
