TEXTBOOK – How To Do Frontside Power Gaffs

Step One:
Use a lot of speed and get out into the open face of the wave. Put pressure on your inside rail as you start your gaff.

Steps Two And Three:
Get low and use your front arm for leverage. Turn as hard as you can without digging your rail too much.

Steps Four, Five, And Six:
While releasing pressure on your front foot, redirect your board back into the whitewash. Make sure to keep your weight distributed evenly.

Step Seven:
Let the whitewater push you around to forward position as you regain control.
