The Boost Mobile Pro of Surf Launch Party With Mike Jones on Saturday, September 10 kicked off this summer’s hottest surfing event — The Boost Mobile Pro. Nick Cannon, Wu Tang’s Ghost Face Killah, and players from the San Diego Chargers were there to watch as top action sports athletes battled it out in a giant wave pool.
Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Beau Emerton, Jamie O’Brien, Makau Rothman, Mark Occhillupo, Mike Parsons, Taj Burrow, Ian Walsh and Dan Reynolds rode the waves to the sounds of platinum recording artists Slim Thug and Mike Jones. Bill “Beaker Bryan, skimboarding champion for the last ten years, walked out of the Wavehouse with his head held high as the winner of the competition. If this contest was any indication of the upcoming Boost Mobile Pro, it is sure to be a wild ride.
The Boost Mobile Pro of Surf, the eleventh leg of the Foster’s Men’s World Tour and the only World Champion Tour on US mainland, was held at Lower Trestles Sept. 13, 14, 15, 16, and 18. Forty-five top pro surfers and 11 trailist contestants took to the Lower Trestles, one of the world’s premier high performance surfing locations. Crowds came out to see who would win the $270,000 prize, view the Mazda Big Airshow, the Foster’s Expression Session, and the final of the Quicksilver Surf Shop Challenge presented by Surfer Magazine.
