Applicants need not only be knowledgeable about running high level events, with 400-600 contestants, but also must have experience running such events. Applicants must have three to five years experience in running large events. A verifiable list of these events should be included with cover letter resume and references.
Must be able to manage and organize, as well as run surfing events in different locations on the East Coast of the United States and Puerto Rico. Must be able to set up schedules, and also have knowledge of seeding heats in the six-man format, as well as the newer four-man format. Applicants must be able to keep detailed financial records, as well as complete and keep detailed budgets for all championship events and personal expenses.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills in this electronic age. Applicants must be knowledgeable in the following operation systems and software applications, including the minimum requirements of Windows XP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Intuit’s Quiken and/or Quick Books Pro, Zipped files, websites and the internet, as well as web-based e-mail communications.
Applicants must have the ability to work well under pressure in a constantly evolving environment. Good written and oral communication skills and a good driving record is a must. Good people and problem-solving skills will also be required, as applicants will be working with ESA Directors and other ESA volunteers, who donate vast amounts of their personal time to this organization.
All applicants, once approved by the ESA Board of Directors, will be subject to a complete and thorough background check, since this position involves working with children, as well as adults.
