ROXY AND LISA ANDERSEN WILL BE SCOUTING THE EAST COAST THIS SUMMER FOR NEW TALENT IN THE WATER

(www.quiksilver.com), the world’s leading outdoor sports company,and Lisa Andersen, four-time world champion and Roxy Global BrandRepresentative, will be hosting a series of events along the east coastthis summer to search for up-and-coming talent in women’s surfing. TheLisa Andersen Challenge provides young aspiring female surfers theopportunity to showcase their skills for two of the most prominent names in modern-day women’s surfing; Lisa Andersen and Roxy.

There are so many young, skilled and confident women in the waternow and we want to show our support and help take them to the nextlevel.”
Lisa Andersen was the first Roxy-sponsored athlete and has been with theteam ever since it was created in 1994. After retiring from full-timecompetition, Lisa became Roxy’s official Global Brand Representative in2005, and continues to be a symbol of the Roxy image around the world.
Chelsea Georgeson, 2005 Women’s ASP World Champion, was offered a Roxysponsorship at the age of 14 after she was spotted by Lisa Andersen inAvalon, Australia eight years ago. Along with Chelsea, the Roxy SurfTeam roster boasts such names as 2004 Women’s ASP World Champion SofiaMulanovich, Megan Abubo, Kassia Meador and young phenoms Carissa Mooreand Lee Ann Curren, as well as with many other female surfers around theworld.

The Lisa Andersen Challenge invites advanced female surfers between theages of 10 and 22 to compete for a host of Roxy prizes and the chance tobe on the world-renowned Roxy Surf Team. The contests will follow a jamformat with four to six surfers per heat in the qualifying round. Thepanel of judges, including Lisa Andersen, will be looking for overallimpression and style and will select the top surfers to compete in onefinal round. Registration will take place the day of the event from 9a.m. to 10 a.m. and the surf portion will follow from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.Roxy will also be showing an advanced screening of the new surf filmShimmer, a story about the Roxy Surf Team, at select retail locationsthroughout the summer. Lisa Andersen will also be on hand for a specialautograph signing.
