Tom Curren Wins At The Seventh Annual Donnie Solomon Memorial In Ventura

7th Annual Donnie Solomon Memorial Event

ASP International sanctioned event for professionsl surfers.

The Pro-Am Open Mens event took place on Sat. The amateur Districtrated and Championship Tour rated events were held on Sun.

This was a fund raising event for the American Red Cross in memory ofDonnie Solomon. Donnie was a volunteer Red Cross representative for theVentura Chapter and a top ASP rated Professional Surfer who was takenfrom us while surfing Waimea in December of 1995.

Over the last seven years $29,000.00 has been raised at this event forthe American Red Cross, Ventura Chapter. Many surf companies, localbusinesses and individual contributions were donated towards the rafflethat was held at this event.

Excellent weather and surf conditions. Six to eight foot waves.

Tom Curren beat out Tim Curran in the last 30 seconds of the Finals witha double barrelthat averaged a 9.67.
