During a recent surf trip to a malaria-ridden island in Southeast Asia, Seal Beach, CA. pro surfer Travis Potter contracted a potentially fatal form of malaria and, according to a report on surfline.com, was hospitalized in Jakarta, Indonesia.
According to the report, Potter was treated for the disease, but lost a lot of weight and remains quite ill. While he has medical insurance, his bills are skyrocketing and consequentially needs help from the surf community.
