Santa Rosa surfer Megan Halavais survived an attack by what was most likely a great white shark Wednesday morning while surfing Salmon Creek near Bodega Bay in Northern California.
Halavais sustained an eighteen-inch wound on her right leg and was reported to be in stable condition at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital as of Wednesday night.
According to reports, Megan told a medic that was transporting her to the hospital via helicopter that she'd be back in the water right after the stitches got out. Halavais reported the shark to be fourteen feet long.
TransWorld SURF wishes Megan a speedy and complete recovery.
