SOLANA BEACH – In a traditional salute to a fellow waterman, nearly 100 relatives, surfers and triathletes held a quiet paddle-out off Fletcher Cove yesterday in memory of David Martin.

David Martin, 66, was attacked while swimming with eight members of the Triathlon Club of San Diego about 150 yards off Tide Beach Park, about a half-mile north of Fletcher Cove. It was the group’s weekly training swim.
