Video: Jay Davies flies above his home turf

Western Australia’s Jay Davies is rapidly becoming one of our favorite surfers over here at Grindtv. His love of giant tubes has been well documented, including with a recent trip to a wave in Indonesia known only as the Apocalypse (video at bottom.) Here is his latest web clip, filmed and edited at home by Wyatt, his brother, and contained within it are a handful of some of the most impressive airs we’ve seen in a bit. This includes the first and third maneuvers, which defy comprehension altogether, to what we see at the 1:00-minute mark, where, during a full rotation air reverse, he somehow avoids decapitating a clueless boogie boarder dropping in on the shoulder, missing him by about 2 inches.

Jay and Wyatt visited “The Island” in May of this year. It was big. And scary. Talk about a well-rounded surfing game…
