Chill and Ride - Slomo

We've filmed the fabulous Wakeboard event "Chill & Ride" last year. After this event I had less than a week to cut the final video (http://vimeo.com/28149695), but I wanted to do something more special with the captured footage! And here is the result... Best watched in Fullscreen! Everything was edited within Final Cut Pro X except one shot that I've polished in Motion 5. Maybe you can guess which one... ;-) I've used the Optical Flow feature and many shots are slowed down to 1% which results in a slow motion comparable to 1000fps. (More info http://bit.ly/ih9eBU !) The music is from the group "a sound travesty" called "I Won't Fade Away!" from the album "Number Zero". This song expresses the wish to do something in life that is worth to remember. "Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
